Can a student from another university join PCP and get the PCP certificate?
Only Keio students who pass the entrance examination to PCP at the end of their second year at university are eligible to become full-time members of PCP. In other words, students enrolled in any other university cannot join PCP as a full-time member. However, exchange students who obtain all the necessary credits for PCP classes can be conferred a PCP certificate.
Can students of the Double Degree programme between Sciences Po and Keio register for PCP classes?
Students in the Keio-Sciences Po undergraduate Double Degree programme can register for all PCP classes, after coming to Keio in the autumn of their third year. However, since PCP is a two-year programme, only PCP students who obtain credits for all PCP classes, including the ones in the spring term of the third year, can obtain PCP certificates.
How do I know whether I am eligible to take PCP classes?
PCP classes are open to foreign students via the programme offered by Keio University’s International Center. For details on application to the PCP through the International Center, please click the following link.

Why do foreign students have to show that they are qualified to register for PCP classes?
In order to join PCP, Keio University students must pass an entrance exam to this programme. The entrance exam takes place at the very end of their second year at university, and comprises written exams on macroeconomics and microeconomics, an interview and submission of TOEFL and other such scores. All students, foreign or not, must show that they are qualified to take PCP classes.
How many PCP classes do exchange students need to obtain credits for, in order to acquire the PCP certificate?
Exchange students who register for 10 PCP classes and receive credits for them will be awarded the PCP certificate. The 10 classes must include PCP’s "Macroeconomics", "Microeconomics", "Applied Econometrics", "Finance, Policy and the Global Economy" and "Independent Study". After careful evaluation, the PCP office might decide to allow students to count credits received for equivalent subjects elsewhere. Please contact the Office of Student Services (International Center) for further information.
What happens if my travel plans coincide with exams for a PCP class?
First of all, you should never finalise your travel plans without consulting the professor who is teaching the class. Some classes have mid-term as well as end-of-term exams, so you should tell the professor about your voyages well in advance. Students who ignore the requirement to discuss with the professor, purchase tickets and ask for make-up exams will not receive credits for the class.
Why are some PCP classes scheduled for the same class-hour as the Japanese classes compulsory for Bekka students?
PCP is principally designed for full-time students at Keio University who pass an entrance exam to this programme. We set the hours for the PCP classes so that they clash as seldom as possible with other classes offered by the faculty of economics. This is probably why the PCP classes end up clashing directly with some compulsory Japanese classes. As to why the Japanese courses are scheduled when they are, it is beyond PCP's mandate to answer that question.
Do exchange students need to choose a particular course in PCP to receive the PCP certificate?
The answer is no. PCP offers five different courses (Environmental Economics, Finance, International Economics, Law and Economics, and Japanese Economy), and full-time PCP students must choose one of the courses. In contrast, exchange students do NOT have to choose any particular course. All PCP classes listed by the Office of Student Services at the International Exchange Services Group at Keio are open to them. See question above for credits required to receive the PCP certificate.
