Professor Emeritus Akira Hayami awarded the Order of Culture

The Japanese Government awarded The Order of Culture to Dr. Akira Hayami, Professor Emeritus of Keio University and the former Dean of the economics department, for his pioneering contributions to the field of historical demography of Japan. The Order of Culture is the highest medal in Japan awarded every year to 5 recepients who have made outstanding contributions in developing the Japanese arts, culture, and scholarship.
