Application

This page provides information on application to PCP. Students who wish to apply to the programme should refer to this guideline as well as the FAQ page.

Eligibility

Keio undergraduate students excluding PEARL students:

In order to apply to PCP, a student must:

  1. Have completed at least four semesters and turn to the junior (third) year OR the senior (fourth) year in the following semester;
  2. Possess valid scores of TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS (Academic test) 6.0 overall or higher; and
  3. Possess a GPA of 2.3 or higher (GPA on the latest Grade Report as of the day of application).

Undergraduate students in other faculties than the Faculty of Economics are also welcome to apply, so long as they meet these three requirements.

PEARL students:

In order to apply to PCP, a student must:

  1. Have completed at least three semesters and is expected to turn to the junior (third) year OR the senior (fourth) year during the year following the period of application; and
  2. Possess a GPA of 2.3 or higher (GPA on the latest Grade Report as of the day of application).

PEARL students can apply to the programme in March of their third semester or fifth semester. All successful applicants must participate in the PCP orientation which takes place in April to learn about PCP and its curriculum, etc.
PEARL students who pass the screening process will actually start taking the courses whose credits are counted for the PCP Certificate from the Fall Semester when they turn to their third year or fourth year.

Application Documents

  1. Completed and signed application form
    • Please download, fill in, print out and sign the application form.
    • Please submit a pdf copy of the signed form.
  2. Grade Report
    • A Grade Report (学業成績表) is a certificate sent to your guarantor, showing a list of all courses you registered for at Keio University. Please submit a pdf copy of the online Grade Report. However, applicants can not submit their Transcript (成績証明書) which are bought from the machines on campus.
    • Your GPA is on your Grade Report.
  3. English test score (TOEFL iBT or IELTS)
    • The test scores must be valid(*) scores of TOEFL iBT or IELTS, taken by the applicant. The test score of IELTS must be from the IELTS Academic test. Please submit a pdf copy of your score report.
      * “Valid” means “valid on the day of application”.
    • We do not accept TOEFL “MyBest™” scores.
    • For the March 2024 application, we accept TOEFL iBT® Home Edition scores.
    • PEARL students do not need to submit their English test scores.
    • If your TOEFL iBT or IELTS score is blow the cutoff score, we accept EIKEN Grade Pre-1as an exception.

Application period

All students, including PEARL students, must apply to PCP during the same application period.

Spring 2024 application periods:
(I) Monday, 11 March, 2024 – Friday, 15 March, 2024 at 4:45 p.m.
(II) Friday, 22 March, 2024 – Thursday, 28 March, 2024 at noon.

How to apply

Applicants must submit the application documents via this form during the application period. Submissions made out of the application period will be invalid.

Screening results

After careful examination of submitted application documents, a list of successful applicants will be uploaded on the keio.jp portal sometime in the evening of Friday, 22 March, 2024 for the application period (I) and Friday, 29 March, 2024 for the application period (II).

The two required courses of the programme, ‘Finance, Policy and the Global Economy’ and ‘Independent Study,’ are held on Tuesdays, Second and Third Periods, in the Spring Semester.
