Application

This page provides information on application to PCP. Students who wish to apply to the programme should refer to this guideline as well as the following pages:

If you still cannot find the information you seek, even after having read these pages carefully, please send your question to <PCPOffice[at]pcp.econ.keio.ac.jp>.
Please know that we do not respond to questions whose answers can be found on these webpages.

If you are an exchange student enrolled in the Keio International Programme or Japanese Language Programme, please visit the website of Keio International Center for details on how to register for a PCP class.

Starting from AY2023, two of the mandatory PCP classes (Independent Study and Finance, Policy and the Global Economy ) are scheduled to be held during the spring term, 2nd and 3rd periods Tuesdays.

Eligibility

Keio undergraduate students excluding PEARL students:

In order to apply to PCP, a student must:

  1. Have completed at least four semesters and turn to the junior (third) year OR the senior (fourth) year in the following semester.
  2. Possess valid scores of TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS (Academic Version) 6.5 overall or higher.
  3. Possess a GPA of 2.3 or higher (your GPA is on your grade report).
Because the method of calculation for the GPA on your grade report results in a lower GPA compared to the method we used before, the minimum required level of GPA is now 2.3.

Students in faculties other than the Faculty of Economics are also welcome to apply, so long as they meet these three requirements.

PEARL students:

In order to apply to PCP, a student must:

  1. Have completed at least three semesters and is expected to turn to the junior (third) year OR the senior (fourth) year during the year following the period of application.
  2. Possess a GPA of 2.3 or higher (your GPA is on your grade report).
Because the method of calculation for the GPA on your grade report results in a lower GPA compared to the method we used before, the minimum required level of GPA is now 2.3.

Notes:
PEARL students can apply to the programme at the end of the autumn semester of their third semester or fifth semester. All successful applicants must participate in the PCP orientation which takes place in April to learn about PCP and its curriculum etc.
Successful PEARL students will actually start taking PCP classes in the fall semester that follows this orientation, when they turn to their 3rd year or 4th year.
