BA/MA Five Year Programme with University of Cologne
The Faculty of Economics has an agreement with the University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln / University of Cologne) for a combined BA/MA Five Year Programme. Students enrolled in the Faculty of Economics can apply to this programme. Students who satisfy the graduation requirements of both institutions will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Keio and a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Cologne.

- Type A/B students refers to students whose study at Keio begins in April and whose principal language of tuition is Japanese.
Classes at Cologne are offered in either German or English. Students can satisfy their Master’s degree requirements by taking courses taught in English only.
About Cologne University
Founded in 1388, the University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. It has gained a consistent and outstanding reputation for maintaining the highest standards in research and education, and has recently been recognized as a University of Excellence in Germany. The Cologne Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo-Faculty), to which the participants of this programme will belong, is Germany’s largest and most reputable Faculty of its type. It is well-known for offering students a vast scope of study fields and specializations.
The University of Cologne has international exchange programmes with Keio University at both the university and the Faculty of Economics levels. Moreover, both institutions are member schools of the CEMS MIM programme.
Eligibility and Application Guideline

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements at the time they apply to this Programme:
- Be a Keio student enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and have successfully completed at least the first five semesters in the case of PEARL students, and at least the first six semesters in the case of Type A/B students;
- a TOEFL iBT score of 100 or IELTS 7.0 or more*;
(*PEARL students are exempted from this English requirement.) - a minimum Grade Point Average (cumulative GPA) of 2.3; and
- have obtained at least 8 Keio credits in the area of statistics and/or mathematics.*

* Credits for “Introduction to Econometrics” and various mathematics courses offered at Hiyoshi can be included here.
PEARL students can fulfill this requirement by earning 4 credits from among elective mathematics courses (e.g. “Introduction to Calculus,” “Linear Algebra,” “Mathematics for Economics”) and “Introduction to Econometrics,” in addition to taking the mandatory “Statistics 1 & 2” (4 credits).

Screening
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their application documents and an interview.
Selection Schedule
Students enrolled in their 3rd year can be considered for selection into this programme. Applicants pre-selected by Keio can proceed to the final selection by Cologne.

Programme Fee
Tuition:
For the first of the two years of study at Cologne, students from Keio will pay their tuition fees to Keio and will be exempted from paying tuition fees for Cologne. For the second year, they will pay regular MSc tuition fees to Cologne (€525 per year in 2017/18).
Medical Insurance:
In addition to mandatory medical insurance in Germany, students are required to purchase a complementary insurance policy to cover the risks not included in the compulsory coverage.
