Double BA Programme between Keio University and Bocconi University

The Faculty of Economics at Keio University started a Double Degree Programme with Bocconi University (Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi) in the 2016 academic year. One year of study at Bocconi University will qualify Keio students to receive two bachelor’s degrees from the Faculty of Economics at Keio University and Bocconi University.

Programme Outline

The maximum number of participants is four per year. Keio students taking part in this Programme will study at Keio for three years and at Bocconi for one year. Upon satisfying the graduation requirements of both institutions, the participants will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Keio, and a Bachelor of International Economics and Management from Bocconi.

All classes for the Double Degree Programme at Bocconi are offered in English except for the Italian classes. While in Italy, students broadly study social sciences including economics and business administration. Students also take language classes to improve their communication skills in Italian.

The study plan displayed in the above figure is for students who start their academic studies in April and who are not in the PEARL programme. PEARL students can participate in the Keio-Bocconi Double Degree Programme, but it is highly likely that PEARL students will require more than four years to complete all the graduation requirements of the two degrees. In order to satisfy Bocconi’s degree requirements, participants in this Programme must take a large number of courses at Keio that are currently taught only in Japanese. Credits for these courses will not count towards the graduation requirements for the PEARL programme.

Programme Requirements

For students who start their academic studies in April and who are not in the PEARL programme:

Prior to applying to this Programme, prospective applicants need to take mandatory classes from their second year. Information on the course requirements will be provided before the beginning of the second year. If you are planning to apply to this Programme, please check the requirements that you must satisfy.
Successful applicants who have passed the screening must take mandatory classes in the Spring Semester of their third year and possibly after their return from Italy.

For PEARL students:

The screening will take place at the end of the third semester (Autumn Semester in their second year). Prior to applying to this Programme, prospective applicants need to take mandatory classes from the second semester (Spring Semester of their first year). Information on the course requirements will be provided before the beginning of the Spring Semester. If you are planning to apply to this Programme, please check the requirements that you must satisfy.
Successful applicants who have passed the screening must take mandatory classes in the fourth semester (Spring Semester of their second year) and possibly after their return from Italy.
